I have another card to share with you today and for the IC414 Challenge. My card was inspiration from the lovely wall painting shown on Laurel Seabrook's Pinterest Board: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/1407443605368443/
This is a simple design. A 51/2x51/2 square card with a 3 lines scored at the bottom for added interest - a tailored look. I used Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A for the image panel. I stamped the sentiment first on some adhesive note paper, and cut it out for the mask. Then I stamped my sentiment on the panel, masked it and stamped the Birch trees with Versafine and embossed them. I added just a little brown ink on the trees and some yellow flower soft for the autumnal falling leaves. A soft sponge of yellow in the background and the pop of red from the cardinals is all this needed.
Tender thoughts and words of sympathy are hard for us at times aren't they? Six years ago my sweet father-in-law passed away from Alzheimer's. He was a veteran of WWII - one of the "Greatest Generation."
He loved the woods of southwestern Wisconsin, and this new design from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps reminds me of him. He would be the first to tell you tales of his youth and young adulthood hunting and fishing in his beloved state. He knew the river like no other.
The day of his service was cold and blustery (like today) - the color still trying to hold on to autumns last song. In the distance, while taps played, the faint sound of a lone train whistle could be heard. Smoke from it's engines mixed with leaves dancing on the wind as we all said good-bye to the man we dearly loved. Our memories are as lasting as our love for him. He would have loved this card.
Thank you for visiting again. It's always a pleasure to read your kind comments.
Hugs,

Beautiful and subtle images and designs. There is something so lovely about white birches.

Gorgeous card with such a beautiful sentiment! The gray background is so fitting. I love the way you did your Birch trees, they look so real! Your cardinals are wonderful and I love how you used the flower soft too! Everything is perfect on your heart felt sympathy card!
