Today's CC called for baked brown sugar, wild wasabi and melon mambo. I'm not sure what colors these are but I picked what I thought was close.
My card tells a story ... a sad story about kids bullying kids. Social media has made us painfully aware that this is going on in epidemic proportions, sometimes causing fatal results.
My cousin Tess has three children. Sadly, all three have learning disabilities d/t problems that occurred at their births. They are now 15, 12 and 10. A couple weeks ago, Tess told me that the kids are being laughed at and called names (bullied) by their school mates. All three are upset, sad and have cried about it. They tell her over and over that all the other kids are smarter, prettier, richer, cooler and everything they think they are not. Tess keeps reinforcing the positive in each of them. She tells them that it is okay to be different and that they have to work a little harder and be a little stronger than some of the other kids, which they are and they do. She has also been telling them that it is okay to not be like everyone else and that each person is "special" and should be who they are and not try to be like everybody else. I know they "hear" her but they "listen" to the bullying words and those are the words that "stick" in their minds and crush their spirits. I know it breaks their hearts, Tess' heart and it broke mine to hear about it.
reminded me of their struggle. I know her kids don't actually laugh at the other kids, even though the other kids laugh at them. BUT I think Ginger's words speak loudly about what they've been going through. I pray for them every day and I pray that the other kids will stop bullying them. (Tess has talked to the teachers and the principals at their schools. Some of the kids that bully them the most have been talked to but it continues.)
Thank you for looking today. I hope that if there is anyone (child or adult) in your life who is bullied, that you will reassure them and love them a little more.

Great card. Thanks for sharing the story about these kids. I will be praying for them. I long for a day when all children will all be liked and accepted by their peers.

This just brought me to tears, Gabby! It bothers me so much to read about how another bullied young person took his/her life to escape the bullies. So unnecessary indeed. I will pray for your little cousins. Love the snowmen, drifts and night time sky filled with snowflakes!

Gabby your story brought tears to my eyes, for your cousins children and also for little Sebastian. There is a lot of sadness out in the world due to bullies and those that allow them to bully. Remember the Evansville Kindness club, bet there is no bullying tolerated in that town!! Your card is a reminder that we can all do our bit to stop others from being mean. Great job my friend.
