This is the card I created for the HYCCT1319 challenge Scene of Serenity. Kittie asked us to create a scene on our card. It also meets the MIX38 challenge - CAS Mixed Media.
The background layer was one of those happy accidents. I had been playing with the stencil using black acrylic paint, and placed it on one of those blue paper "shop" towels to protect the counter while cleaning the stencil. Somehow, this piece resulted, and I thought it was so cool I stuck it on a piece of CS and filed it away. I thought it would make a perfect bg for these trees so I dug it out, cut it to size and adhered it to a piece of vellum using spray adhesive. I trimmed the vellum, stamped the sentiment and heat embossed with white ep. To finish the edges, I lined them with Scor-tape and applied the Glitter Ritz glitter, burnishing it with my finger to remove the excess.
The tree line was cut three times from shimmer cs. I cut all the trees from two of them and placed the trees where I wanted them on the last, attaching them on the back side with foam tape. I cut the border again from a Styrofoam take-out box and cut the trees from it to use for dimension behind the second layer. These Styrofoam dimensionals were attached with Crafter's Pick glue. The third shimmer layer (without trees) was layered on top and all the pieces assembled. I cut another snow bank and added it as the final layer.
There was probably an easier way to do this, but I really like the way this turned out, so it was worth the effort.
As always, thanks for looking!
