I'm not usually a big fan of angels (not that I don't appreciate angels, but how they're usually represented!) and don't have any angel stamps in my stash, but I remembered a stencil I picked up in a lot of stencils which I bought at a yard sale. I liked my card from yesterday's sketch challenge with the mixed media muted bg and decided to do something similar for the bg behind my angel. I put two coats of Gesso over my DD's leftover wedding invite, but I could still see some of the printing. So, I added one more layer of Gesso and this time took a wet wipe with a drop of Turquoise reinker on it and smeared that into the are between the purple medallions. I wanted to add some Christmas snowflakes, so I stamped off Pacific Point and then stamped the flakes. They were still a bit too bright for the look I wanted so I wet a wipe and dabbed over them. Once this was dry, I put my first layer of stenciled angel-I don't have any modeling paste but saw on a thread somewhere that you could use toothpaste! After I let this dry and used a heat gun on some of the thicker areas, I then laid the stencil back down and added 2 thick coats of Gesso. I didn't like the gaps left by the stencil so I filled those in with Gesso as well. I inked my sentiment with a marker, leaving off the stars that are also on the stamp and stamped my sentiment. I added some stickles centers to the flakes and also the hem of the angel's tunic and smeared some onto the wings. I layered a wide purple ribbon with a White organza and gold mesh. You'll have to take my word for it that these accents and the framing are Eggplant, I had a hard time getting true colors.
