This is a felt owl egg cosy which I made for my daughter's 10th birthday. She loves boiled eggs and is crazy about owls so when I saw this design in a book, I thought it would be perfect. The design is by Laura Howard and was taken from her book "Super-cute Felt".
I handcut the owl's body and wings then used my Lifestyle (formerly Quickutz) Circle Dies and Big Shot to diecut the owl's eyes.
The brown zigzag pattern was made using a Chevron Die-namics die from My Favorite Things which cut the felt so beautifully with just one pass in my Big Shot. Such a great timesaver instead of handcutting!
The embroidery was done using 3 strands of embroidery floss and the owl was sewn together using sewing thread.

That is so cute! I'd have loved this when I was younger. Now I think if I used a cosy, my egg would get too hard, LOL - I like them runny. Using the chevron die was a great idea.
Very neat buttonhole/blanket stitching!
