My poor DH never gets a card from me for any occasion. I guess b/c he sees all the cards I make and b/c I regive him cards as a joke. The Valentine's Card I made him 2 years ago is still the one he'll get this Valentine's Day too!! Gosh, am I horrible or what?
Since my DH is retired Navy, thought I'd make a nautical card using a ship image shared with me by coffeestamper (thanks Sue)! I can't tell you how much trouble I had with this card - couldn't get the coloring right, the sponging, the design, NOTHING! Then, somehow it started coming together. I was going to redo the sponging; but, then thought it made it look a little more distressed.
I clear embossed the entire image and used dd on the clouds. I bought some new clear ep b/c I dropped my entire bottle. However, I can't find the new one. So, I had to opt for some old ep that had little specks on black and sparkle mixed in. I figured the black specks made it a little more distressed looking too, so left it as is. I'll do anything to make an excuse for the things I do!
I decided to use crystal effects on the real seashell inside the sentiment to make it shiny. Then I thought I should have kept it natural for a more "manly" look. But, I like it, so there you go!
Added a framing of brushed brass adhesives on the top of the main image panel, twine thread on each side and framed the image which is popped up over the cut out frame b/hind it. Popped up the whole main image panel on dimensionals too.
Well, that's enough 'splainin' to do right now. Sorry for the lengthy description, but this card really HURT to make. I'm so glad I'm done. I have 2 more masculine cards to make this month - somebody HELP me!!!

Pamzi, this is awesome! I love the real shell - what a super touch. All the touches on this are wonderful - the sponging, the sparkles (even for a manly card), the brads, the twine, etc. I hate to make manly cards too (unless they are made with THE MAN, but even those are hard), but you did an excellent job on this one. So sorry it hurt - I totally know what you mean though.
Thanks for the tip on regiving cards you gave before - not sure my DH would notice if I did that....
Hugz to you SIS!!!!

What a wonderful card for your dh. Love all the layers and coloring....super! I am sure he appreciated it very much. My dh usually gets neglected too as I am busy selling mine.
