The instant I saw this little ceramic apothecary chest I knew I wanted to make the Santa's Drawers, which I never tried when it was featured during the Holiday Blitz. The tutorial is so easy to follow, but if I try this again I'll probably buy paper especially for it. As the inspiration piece had different drawers, I didn't mind the mix and match look, but I didn't have four sheets of cardstock that would have looked good together, so I had to go with the wide drawer at the bottom instead of making two separate ones as I'd hoped.
Outside is white Bazzill, with a woodgrain stamp inked with Stormy Sky to give some distressing to it. The drawers are all old Cosmo Cricket Honey Pie papers, I made the knobs by punching 1/2" circles from the patterned paper and layering them up on 5 circles of white card. I made little stems for the knobs with about 8 layers of punched 1/4" circles, and then added Glossy Accents to the top layer after assembling the knobs.
I loved the bird in the header on the Ruche site, and wanted to incorporate it. A branch didn't look right on top of the drawers, so I used a Maya Road chipboard flourish, covered with Versamark, embossed with white EP and with the woodgrain stamp pressed into it. The bird is also Maya Road, covered with scraps of the Cosmo Cricket, with a pearl for its eye and a glaze pen on the beak.
