Hi! This card fits today's Free For All Challenge: Nutcracker Suite. It also fits this week's Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenge to use a bow on a card.
I love Nutcrackers. I have a pretty extensive collection of inexpensive ones...And, this year we decided not to display them until my mother returns home from Hospice Hospital. She is still there, and we just don't know when she will be able to return home. Her cancers, (all 9 of them), are Stage 4, so she KNOWS she will not be cured. However, in the past, she's been able to regain strength after an infection. This time, she has not. However, she is still pushing herself, so that's a really good sign.
In less than 9 hours we will be at the surgeon's office, as the surgery Markie had in August did NOT work. Now, we are facing another nightmare of Anesthesia Problems. I'm not looking forward to that, I assure you. Poor Markie is frightened and acting out, as can be expected.
This set was designed as a POSTAGE STAMP set. However, I decided to cut the Nutcracker image out and use it without the stamp edges or price. I added in the pines from Greetings of the Season for a bit of "texture."
I stamped the background designer paper with the sheet music background from Musical Holiday. The nutcracker was stamped in Adirondack's Pitch Black and colored with Copics. Why a dye based ink? Because Copics tend to "bleed" solvent based inks, like StazOn.

I love your card, but not your news of Markie. Keeping you all in my prayers, my friend.

I knew this challenge would be straight up your street, Faith. I was thinking of your collection when I had to get DH's vice-grips from the shed to crack some nuts at Halloween.
Thinking of Markie, and you and Mark too.

Faith, I really like this layout with the music diagonally across the card and the image in a circle at the corner - the green bg is very Christmassy - lovely to see the nutcracker outside the postage stamp too!
