This card is for Melinda's VSN challenge of brushing the dust off an old flower set. I think this was the first set I bought after finding SCS, and I always forget how beautiful it is. I even went into the way back machine and used some dp from a black & white paper pack I got at Walmart when I first started stamping--I always forget how pretty that paper is, too!
I didn't want to make the card too somber, so I went with PTI's Hawaiian Shores as the card base. And then-get this!!--my awesome SCS friend Crafty Math Chick sent me some American Craft EP a while ago. I had never used this blue before, but it turns out to be a perfect match for Hawaiian Shores! It was like she knew PTI would be releasing this color.
Now if only the "perfect match" ribbon from PTI would match the cardstock! Grrrr! But I guess "kinda sorta match" isn't as catchy.
Anyway, I stamped the flower multiple times with versamark and embossed it. I stamped the solid flower onto cream cardstock, but I didn't like the look, so I sponged over it with Memento London Fog to change the detail to grey. I also curled the petals a bit for some dimension. Added Kinda Sorta Match ribbon and a random black button to finish it off
