I liked the tree and bats on the orange sweatshirt and thought of a card I did a while back using the Martha Stewart butterflies that you can see here. The blue panel is one I did a while back and set aside and now have a use for it otherwise it would be orange and I think IÂ’ll try this card in orange tones like the sweatshirt and maybe I can figure out some large ghost to go with it too. Love the inspiration challenge and all the ideas I get from it!
Another great challenge Stephanie!
The two papers, glossy and flat envelope sure took the inks each in their own way. I used the same blues on both.
CARD:
-Mask off the moon with a punched out sticky note.
-Brayer on three shades of blue starting with the lightest color first and I started that color from the bottom of the panel and only went up about two inches. I start rolling my brayer off the cardstock and working higher, for this larger area panel I did get a lighter area to the side so I started the next ink application at that point to fill it in.
-Next the medium blue went on starting from the top of the panel and avoiding going to the very bottom but by the time you get that far the ink is gone anyway. I reloaded about three times.
-Last the darkest blue goes on and keep to the top of the panel, once you have the desired color and most of the ink is gone from the brayer – remove the moon mask and go over it a few times to tone down the white.
-The bats were paper sculpted using a metal ball stylus and a folded paper towel. I have two styluses with a total of four ball sizes and I use the smallest size to score lines on the front of the bat for the body lines and two wing lines on each wing. Flip it over and roll the largest ball in circles for the body, then change to smaller balls for the wings. For the small amount of time it takes to do the procedure I think its well worth the effortsÂ…although this many bats did take five to ten minutes and my hand was tired but I do have Fibromyalgia and IÂ’m getting old!
-The bats are glued on with AleeneÂ’s tacky glue.
ENVELOPE:
-I masked off the envelope with a full sized piece of paper and held the envy to the paper with blue painters tape. Inked up the backgrounder and placed the envelope on the rubber, covered with another piece of paper and pressed down.
-The colors are sponged on starting with the lightest first.
-The bats are stamped on.
INSIDE:
I attached a white insert (4 x 5.25”) on the right side and stamped a staggered row of bats up the left side then added a sentiment.
