Peggy is our hostess this week, and she has challenged us to use Wisteria Wonder, Smoky Slate and Whisper White, with the dessert option of a hint of green. I found this challenge--well--challenging! I miss Lovely Lilac and Lavender Lace, and find Wisteria Wonder to be somewhat drab. Add some gray to the mix, and well, I think this is going to be a sympathy card.
I stamped the flower in craft black ink on hot press watercolor paper, sprinkled with clear embossing powder and heat set. Then I colored the flower with an AquaPainter and Wisteria Wonder reinker. I did use a touch of green in the center of my flower, so dessert for me!
I had fun with the background, using a technique called Ink Layering, which I learned about on Jennifer McGuire's blog. It involves dabbing white craft ink through a stencil onto colored cardstock. After it's dry, you replace the stencil, but move it slightly (or a lot) and then dab the colored ink (matching the cardstock) over all the stencil openings. I think it gives a really neat 3-D effect, and is a way to get perfectly matching DS paper when you don't have any!
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!
