This card is for my aunt. She never had children of her own, so when we were growing up, my sister and I were her "special kids." She was a teacher and she started an "Aunt's Week" along with other teachers the week before Mother's Day in the teachers' lounge. Each year she would ask us to write her a letter that she could post on her Aunt's Week bulletin board in the lounge. She's now 79 and long retired, but my sister and I still send her Aunt's Week cards. It's a nice way to let her know she's special to us in lieu of Mother's Day.
New stuff I got to play with for my "bought it, use it" Flourishes challenge: just-purchased-yesterday MS topiary PATP set, new-to-ink Flourishes stamps, MS butterfly punch, SU designer label punch, green rhinestones, black embossing powder, and Basic Grey Kioshi paper pad.
For sparkle, I added white glitter (hard to see in photo) to the body of the butterfly and rhinestones on my sentiment panel. Also hard to see: I clear embossed the glass cloche over the orchid. Image is colored with inks and a blender pen.
I realized too late that I should have placed the butterfly on the left side of the image, rather than the right side, to balance my card out. Darn! Wish I would have caught that before I adhered it.
Thanks for looking!!
Emily
