Today's Technique Lover's Challenge is to take an outline stamp and use it as a silhouette. I had looked through the inspiration site Saturday and found this cool skyline silhouette that I thought would make a good card to send my Chicago dwelling Dad a thank you note for hosting Christmas and helping my sister and I host a baby shower for our daughters the next weekend. I was going to make a bg with Distress Oxide ink, but decided instead to use a gelatin print that I already had made. I had been using my son's desk so I gave my daughter my desk and now I had an opportunity to get his out to him in Philadelphia so I am deskless! Anyway....I grabbed supplies and used the dining room table! Instead of using a Sharpie, I decided to use an Elegant Writer pen so I could bleed a reflection into the water as the Chicago skyline is along Lake Michigan. Because I sometimes lose edge details with the bleeding, I first outlined with an archival pen. I then used a wet brush to activate the ink and pull down a reflection. I didn't get the coolest bleeding because my print was on sketch paper, but it did give a little shadowing. I was going to stamp a sentiment but decided to just frame in black and slap it into a card base instead. I would love to go back later and try again on watercolor paper because I think the effect would be cool.
