Just got this fabulous Penny Black stamp and wanted to try a fall version. On a piece of watercolor cs, I splattered masking fluid and let dry. Then, I used the watercolor technique where you color on the stamp with zig watercolor markers and then spritz with water before stamping. I did this multiple times with multiple shades of the colors. Sometimes I spritzed with water sometimes not. I also sponged a bit of color on the stamp some of the time when I didn't have the shade I wanted in a zig. Then I used a technique that I have seen Jill Foster and Virginia of "Yes, Virginia" use, and that is before removing the stamp from the MISTI, I stamped with versamark and clear embossed. That way I could sponge the bg because I was nervous about a watercolor wash with such a detailed stamp. It also gives the leaves and berries a lovely shine IRL, which of course you can't see in the photo. After sponging I rubbed off the masking fluid leaving the white splatters, which I love. I didn't have enough splatters of masking fluid so I added splatters of diluted white acrylic paint. Watercolor panel is popped up with dimensionals. Very happy with how this turned out!

Me ... "screeching" in absolute glee! Drop dead to die for is what this is Maura. I have saved it to my desktop so I can look at it for a very long time. I am going to give this technique a try ... but I have no doubt you made it sound much easier than it is.

This is lovely, Maura. You mastered all of those techniques. The blue bg has do much depth, and your splatters look perfect. This one should be fra med. Fsved.
