WooHoo it is tickle a Teapotter time of the month and Lisa aka Shoe Girl has given us a fabulous 'Cleopatra' challenge.
Much has been written about Cleopatra, yet very little is known about her early years at the Nile High School and her two former BFF, Marcie Antony and Julianne Caesar.
Cleo, Marcie and Julianne were inseparable as young girls, often going out all day long to play behind the pyramids and sphinx. They loved going to their local Costco flee market to look for hand-made rugs and exotic gowns. They often bought baubles and beads for their hair and beautifully hand woven baskets for their pet snakes. Life was good...for a time.
Sadly, Cleo came from a really dysfunctional family and many of the town folk thought she was trouble with a capital T. Marcie's mum would often say, "That Cleopatra will come to no good, mark my words". Julianne's mum called Cleo a floozie and forbid her visiting their house, especially when Julianne's brother was home. Slowly but surely Marcie and Julianne drifted away from Cleo.
The girls shed a few tears when they read in the Nile Advertiser that Cleo had died after being bitten by her pet snake Samantha, unfortunately the article did not report on the condition of Samantha aka Sammy da Snake.
Here is a picture of Marcie and Julianne reflecting on their early years with Cleopatra and wondering what happened to Samantha.
About the card, distress inks were applied using the Smack & Squirt technique (smack distress ink pad onto a sheet of aluminium foil, squirt on a LOT of water, then mop up the inky water with a foam blending tool and scrub madly over the cardstock). The rectangular foam blending tool is perfect for shaping pyramids and landscapes. A bit of stenciling was done followed by some stamping around the edges.
The birds were fussy cut; legs and hair were hand drawn, then also fussy cut and applied to the birds. A gold pen with a fat bullet point was used to add gold trim and dots. Liquid pearls were also used.
Trick: Take a scrap of acetate packaging or cellophane bag, lay it over a stamped image of the bird, then draw on the acetate with a copic or sharpie to work out the hairstyle, legs etc. When you have something you are happy with, lay the acetate over a piece of cardstock and cut out the shapes you want.
Have a great week everyone and thank you for looking.

Oh, Susie, when I saw your name on the sign up page, I just KNEW you were going to somehow turn Crazy Birds into Egyptians; I'm so delighted I wasn't mistaken! And the story is fabulous - I've missed them! Love this to pieces!

Oh, my dear, dear sis!! You are amazing, and I agree - you MUST write a book and include these as illustrations. It could be a short-story book, and you could dedicate it to Geoff!! He must get such delight from you, and you absolutely warm our hearts and tickle us no end. No matter how I feel, when I visit your card and read your "story" and description, I always have a smile on my face and more often than not giggle or LOL! I love you dearly, and you are a most amazing DD sis. And we all love you here at SCS! Hugs!
