This is my card for Linda's WT challenge this week ~ WT490 Put A Map On Your Card . I have several map stamps, I love using them. But since I had especially saved a couple of real maps when I was helping my sister with sorting out and clearing my dad's old house, I thought I ought to use one of them.
This one worked out well for me to combine with the last of the CCEE Stampers challenges for August. Shirley asked us to use song titles for our inspiration. This is Snoopy "On The Road to Find Out", by Cat Stevens. I thought the song title worked very well with both the sentiment and the card. I was a little bit bummed because the first map background I made, Snoopy was on the road to a copper mine, which was pretty cool. But I stamped the sentiment too close to the edge and when I added the photo corners, they covered the "y" in confidently. There wasn't another copper mine on the old map I was using, sniff. I crumpled and distressed the map - when we hire a motorbike on our Greek holidays, a map is an essential and I always keep it either tucked into the waist of my shorts or sit on it. By the end of the holidays it looks even more crumpled than this one does!
SnoopyÂ’s Chopper stamped on white card, coloured with pencils and cut out. The map was crumpled and wiped with Vintage Photo, Edges sponged with more Vintage Photo, then edged with a black marker. I used some old paper ribbon from gift packaging for the road. The photo corners were punched from an old tomato paste tube, embossed with the Herringbone ef and then sponged with black and turquoise acrylic paints and some gold Treasure Wax. Lastly I added some dots of glossy acrylic paint (Deco Gloss by Lefranc & Bourgeois). There is a sun stamped and embossed in gold under the top left photo corner!!
