WooHoo it is Tickle a Teapotter time of the month and Sabrina has shared a beautiful poem with us, resulting in a challenge to bring feathers or birds.
My brain went at a million miles an hour when I thought about feathers. For some reason feathers remind me of Sylvester and Tweety Pie, but I thought a little half-eaten traumatised bird might not be suitable for our teaparty.
Still having feathers and cats on my mind I thought about Catfish. I googled catfish to see what bait they like. No information was given, but I did notice that they have very unfortunate looking heads – in fact it would be fair to say they have been severely beaten with the ugly stick.
Based on the lack of information, I have decided that catfish are best caught with feathers. Here we have Gilbert and Shirley on the banks of the Splitcoaststamperville River fishing for catfish using feathers as bait. No birds are harmed in the process, only their feathers are plucked, hence several bald little birds in the trees.
About the card, this is basically a stair step card, with three main supports in order to support Gilbert and Shirley (both Sassy Cheryl digi images) and the tree. I used distress inks to watercolour the river, that didnÂ’t work so well so I just scrubbed ink on using a sponge dauber.
The sky was done with an acrylic paint dauber and finger painting white clouds. The grass was done using Martha Stewart fringe scissors, followed by a lot of angle cutting. Gilbert and Shirley are wearing paper pieced outfits and hats.
Have a great week everyone and thank you for looking.

Another amazing and funny story and card! Your water is so cool and love the ripple around the fishing line. My mother used to make my big brother take me fishing with him when I was small. He hooked me twice while casting - it may have been his way of convincing my mother that I shouldn't tag along. You should warn Shirley to never stand BEHIND Gilbert. Actually this looks a little like us, except that I would never wear a dress!

Wow - these two are sure dressed pretty for fishing - they must be fishing after church - on Sunday at Grandmas... Such a lovely scene - your paper piecing, scene creating, and coloring talents are showing big time here.
Having a catfish pond, I can tell you they love to eat anything that qualifies as food or is attached to food so feathers could work, especially if they were attached to chicken.
This is precious Susie!
Hugz!

Susie, Every time I look at one of your scenes, I am so amazed! I think this is the cutest one I have ever seen! I think you went over the top with this. The piecing and the feathers and the fishing line into the water! All of it! tfs
