Today's challenge is to use texture and a colour I normally wouldn't use. Well, I normally don't use this colour (I think it's Tempting Turquoise). Can't stand this colour, so I tried to sponge over it with some brown to cover up some of the almost-offensive boldness. Blech.
This card actually started as a make-and-take. I modified it after I got home. I took off all the adhered elements - they were adhered with inferiour glue/tape and came off easily. This is going to a five-year-old so I want it to be STURDY. I re-adhered everything using ATG tape. I replaced the original white corrugated stripe with a brown polka-dotted ribbon, and added two hearts on top of it to hide the ends of the ribbon. I sponged everywhere to tone down this colour that I'd never used before (and likely will never use again), and added tons of polka dots, a sentiment, and a sort of border with a white gel pen. I cut the inserted tag to be more narrow because originally, the turquoise holder was not glued at the sides!! Well, I glued down the sides, but had to cut off the sides of the white tag so it would fit easily. I stamped the truck 'cause my nephew loves vehicles. I know I should have probably coloured the hearts to be orange (to go with the colour combo) instead of red, but couldn't make myself do it; can't stand this colour combo. I compromised by painting the driver's hat orange. I also didn't try very hard to match the truck's colour closer to Tempting Turquoise. Then I sponged the tag to take away the stark brightness of the white. I guess white is another colour which I have not used in forever (I usually use cream instead).
Sorry for the novel.
