Ahhh, I was really tired when I was making this card. I had a very busy day doing all the grocery shopping and other errands yesterday. While making this card, which I started about 10pm...by the time 1am rolled around, my husband wakes me up while my head was on the table. Weird! Oh well, after I woke up, I continued on with my card. I really like doing the inspiration challenges early so I can have my Saturdays with my kids. Thanks so much for posting the challenge early.
Here is my story:
The inspiration challenge was from this online store called Room Service. Here is the wall plaque I cased: http://www.roomservicehome.com/prodi...number=ha14508. I wanted to try the technique using rubbing alcohol with a scrub sponge that Sumtoy had on her card "On the Shore". Her wonderful gallery is here: sumtoy's Gallery at Splitcoaststampers. At first I tried the brayer....wasted quite of few glossy papers too. I need lessons on that technique. Anyhow, I bought the sponge like Sumtoy suggested at the Dollar Tree (green/blue type with the rough side). I used the reinkers for the blue and the brown and applied it onto a baby wipe. Let soak. I dabbed my sponge onto the wipe and onto the glossy paper with an even amount of pressure. I tore a piece of paper for the top of the water to give it more of a wave look. I got the idea from someone for the clouds using a scallop circle punch and sponged also. I'm sorry, I can't remember who that was. This is where the tricky parts come in. I had to really boggle my brain because I didn't really have any beach stamps, except for shells. I stamped the top branches from using a half of a tree and masked for a little longer branch. The little tree is from a Christmas tree stamp, I just cut off the ornaments and some branches. Once stamped onto white c/s, I went back over it using a chalk pencil. Cut out carefully. I also stamped some grass. I hand wrote the sentiment on vellum and also made the birds with a calligraphy pen. I don't know if I like the vellum showing, so I may take it off and try else. My husband thought of the twine around the frame. It's wrapped around a popsicle stick with tacky tape. I split the stick in half and cut to size. They are also held on with tacky tape. The shells I stamped with distress brown ink, embossed them, and cut out. Mounted. I made the b/g stripes by cutting just the white. It is mounted onto a lighter blue for the base card. I really wanted to use the same color as the picture, but I didn't have that color in c/s. This was really quite the challenge for me but I had fun doing it. Thank you for looking. Have a wonderful Saturday.
I think I went overboard, what do you think?
Sorry for the tiny smudge mark where the "m" and the "e" are. It's on my camera chip, so please look past that. I haven't had time to take my camera to the shop. Thank you!
Bonnie
I am going to go rest my eyes and my poor back.

This is wonderful! I love your beach scene and the twine wrapped frame is super. I once did a raffia wrapped frame that looked pretty similar. Yours looks great!
