It's time for another masculine birthday card! I've been wanting to try Zindorf's Brayered Background technique for a long time. Here's her tutorial that I followed: Blogs at Splitcoaststampers If you haven't perused her many, many fantastic tutorials on her blog, you're missing something very special. I stamped the Mallard image over the finished brayered sky with Palette Noir Black and then colored it in with the Basic Black marker to create the silhouette.
The faux tile was created by taping the grid brass stencil over the image, smooshing the Versamark pad all over it and then heat embossing with clear EP. NOTE: I first sprayed the image with workable fixative to prevent making a mess of my Versamark pad.
To create the grout, I colored between and around the embossed "tiles" with the Basic Black marker, also using a black Sharpie marker in some spots that resisted the waterbased marker due to the workable fixative.
I used JanTInk's "Frosty Background" crumpled waxed paper technique with Ruby Red ink on the Really Rust layer to create the look of leather and intensify the color:

WOW!!! Even though I've read through how you've created this gorgeous masterpiece, I'm still convinced that those are actual tiles! I'm forever wowed by the details you put into your work and am so glad you continue to share it with us! Thank you .
