After reading a recent SCS discussion thread about the new postage rates and what it also means for thick and/or lumpy-bumpy cards, I decided I'd better design something flat for the remainder of my Christmas cards. This is pretty much a CASE of this wonderful card by kingmontmon: Rudolph and Dad by kingmontmom at Splitcoaststampers Her card is certainly the reason why I bought this Penny Black stamp over two years ago, and now I finally used it!
The tree image is stamped twice with Mellow Moss classic ink, once on Bashful Blue and once on White. I cut along the base of the trees on the white piece and layered it over the Bashful Blue to create the "snow."
The deer are stamped on paper vellum using Palette Burnt Sienna and embossed with clear detail embossing powder. Then I flipped the vellum over and stamped the snow with Palette New Canvas ink.
Little Rudolph's nose is really red, even though it looks more black in the photo. It's created with a silver Dot Sparklers sticker that I colored with my red alcohol marker and then dotted it with my clear Glaze pen and sprinkled red glitter on top. A red gem would work great, but that makes a "bump" on the card, so this was my alternative.
The sentiment is stamped with Memories Black ink and embossed with detail clear EP. The vellum piece is attached by folding the top and bottom edges over the tree image piece.
Now, I have to address and mail all my cards so I can start baking my Christmas cookies!

Oh! Oh! Oh! My favorite deer! And, yes, I do have this stamp--used it once. Sometimes I feel so sad about all those neglected stamps. This is simply beautiful, Linda! I love those trees, too. About that postage...I bought a bunch of 58 cent stamps this year--then most of my cards turned out to be no extra postage required. Had to go buy more 41 cent stamps!

What a wonderful card!!! I don't recall ever seeing that deer image before-- it is wonderful!!! I love how you did the trees on the 2 colors and with the vellum over them -- it looks just wonderful!!! I love the crisp black of your sentiment -- really stands out and looks sharp!!!

*{snort}* I have this deer image too---I don't think I've ever used mine either!! Ya know....the problem is that there are so many lovely C'mas stamps out there but only one C'mas holiday. If I live to be 108, I'll still have more C'mas stamps than I can use, especially as I try to use one design for my C'mas card each year so I don't forget to whom I sent what...hmmmm...better re-think that policy, huh? This turned out just beautiful!!
