Karen is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she's trying something new for us: Just two colors: Blueberry Bushel and Basic White. The dessert option is "Anything Goes," so we can add a color if we wish. I decided to stick with just the two challenge colors, plus a couple of neutrals, Very Vanilla and Night of Navy.
I'm behind the curve on this technique, but thought this week's colors would work well with some very pretty DS paper that I've had in my stash for too long. I started out with a square of white cardstock, but it looked too stark with the DS paper, which, it turns out, it not white. So I switched to Very Vanilla, which also isn't a match, but it's closer! I redeemed myself on the challenge, though, by using white embossing powder!
I found a tutorial on Facebook for this technique, and I like that it uses three different DS papers. I think that really adds interest to the design. The blue butterfly is topped with a vellum lacy layer, and the greeting is popped up with a foam dot.
I'm excited to see how many players stick to only the two challenge colors this week! Will you be one of them!?!?!?

This is a lovely card! My daughter received two cards using this technique at Christmas and I have never tried it. After seeing yours I definitely have to look it up! Love your crisp edges and the pretty embellishments.

This fractured card style always looks terrific when I see it done, I’m going to have to create one! This one looks beautiful with the chosen dps, Barbara, so lovely with the added sentiment and butterfly!
