Our hostess, Ardyth, had me at "cute critters" when she described this week's Featured Stamper's Gallery. And, Diane Morales doesn't disappoint. Her Gallery is filled with fun, happy critters but also lots of other types of beautiful and bright cards. I needed a "Thinking of You" card for my friend, Karen, and landed on this card by Diane:
When I saw Diane's fabulous cup of thanks I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I kept her design of flowers within a shape, and stuck fairly close to her colors (orange is one of Karen's fav colors); but, I moved the "shape" from being the card onto the card as a heart and added some layering and bling to fill the space.
This was one of those cards that didn't start off so well. This flower stamp turned out to be a bit big for this size heart, but I still got a nice grouping of the flowers. The yellow and orange, though, looked very flat with a white bg. I tried to outline the heart with orange Copic pen and that looked worse. Then I tried coloring the bg with a very light blue....blah. So, I took my cue from Diane again and colored the bg with darker blues and it made all the difference, I wanted to pop the heart up on the card and happened to have the same size heart already cut in orange foam. Funny thing, although I know I used the same die, it must have smooshed the foam a bit so I ended up with a bit of an edge around the heart and I was very happy with that. I thought the Bazzill too plain so I stamped a subtle bg with the CP ink and that helped immensely. And to add a "bit more" there is Stickles on some of the flowers and all of the berries and then the rhinestones. I probably should have titled this a "bit more".
Congratulations Diane on being Featured Stamper this week. Your Gallery is fabulous and full of fun and bright inspiration. I hope you enjoy your week in the spotlight. And I hope everyone's day is filled with just a bit more -- more love, more happiness, more health. TFL

What a beauty! Your card really jumps out of the gallery and I knew right away what card of Diane's inspired you. Thank you for giving the details of your creative process. It's nice to know that others also take a while to bring a card together. :-) This is sure to bring some uplift to your friend.
