The song 'Snowfall' was written in 1941 by Claude and Ruth Thornhill and released by his orchestra. I would say it isn't a particularly well-known song, although Tony Bennett also recorded it. I have always loved it; I think my Dad had an LP of it, can't remember if it was just instrumental or vocal. It is more a winter song.
This is also for Wednesday's challenges: watercolor winter foliage and the sketch, for which Dr. Sonja gave us the option of creating a Double Dutch fold.
I had a lot of fun painting the foliage, kept it simple with the cedar. Added some white and green metallic wc for the snow. I painted all of this on a background of DOx ink sprays to create kind of a misty, wintry look. The song is very misty and dreamy, which is why I think I love it. My sentiment is the lyrics to the song...nothing fancy as far as lyrics go, nothing more is needed. Do listen to either Tony or the original big band version. I always have said I was born too late, love big band music.
