I love walks down memory lane! Thank you, Cathy for taking us back down the path. I chose to CAS my very first upload from September 2007. Almost there. I was scared to death. Looking back, I see I've been tearing paper, making collages, and stapling since the beginning! My first card used Stampin' Up's 'Balmy Breezes' and the 'Cheesecloth' background stamp. It was definitely a beginner water color work. And I still need lots of practice...most of mine are slap it on, mist and blot, or sprinkle and hope!!!
I had to ponder awhile where I was going to take a remake. I first stamped the 'Balmy Breeze' palm in the foreground and embossed. Made a mask for a full moon. I used 5 shades of distress and oxide inks to create my night sky and the sandy waters' edge. Adding some stencil work here and there and a spritz there and here! The sand was stippled.
And then I thought, well it's been almost 12 years...that Balmy Breeze palm has grown!!! ...and I just happened to have this awesome grove of palm trees from Technique Junkies already stamped and embossed. It took awhile to fussy cut, but as I did, I realized my style has grown just as the original palm tree has.
I stapled the grove at their base with navy staples and popped the fronds above and out from the little palm. Through a few stars above, embossing them with starlight ep.
The big fella, moon was from Deep Red...I love the thought around him. I embossed him and colored with Gelatos.
On the edge of the sand, I stamped a SA Wendy Vecchi sentiment: The Artist is nothing with the gift, but the gift is nothing without the work.
I can't wait to see what everyone has remembered! And thanks for the gift of your comments.
