Has it been crazy hot where you are? And humid, too? A walk outside around here is feeling like walking thru a steam room. ItÂ’s pretty bad when it feels as if youÂ’re wearing the air like a wetsuit. As Dr. Suess might sayÂ…I do not like the heat. I do not like it one bit. I do not like it even one little bit.
For todayÂ’s Inspiration Challenge (IC551), we have a Pinterest Board full of Tim Holtz inspiration. I was inspired by THIS card.
(I DO like these colors. I do like them a lot.) And cattails & dragonflies are what youÂ’d probably see in a hot, humid area. You can tell itÂ’s hot because of the blazing orange above the dragonflies. I die cut a stitched rectangle out of the white linen c/s then sponged on the oranges from the top down and the green/turq from the bottom up. Then I put it into my Misti, stamped the cattails & dragonflies w/ Memento, added some color w/ Copics, then over stamped w/ Versafine. Just a touch of the splatter bg. was added here & there. The greeting was die cut in a double stitched circle & I sponged the outer circle w/ the same colors.
Funny thing about the bottomÂ…I scored the top fold in the wrong place which made the front shorter & back too long. Instead of rescoring it (which would make it look funny & all), I cut off the excess on the back & added a sponged strip w/ part of the grid border on top. I guess another case of a mistake turning into an opportunity for change.
Thanks so much for looking! Closeups, the inside & Copic colors are on my blog: The Write Stuff

I love your color variation in the sky area and how it has the bright orange at the top/ And yes cattails and dragonflies would be hanging around in the humid heat.
