I struggled with this challenge. I didn't want to admit that making cards was my absolute favorite. But it is. Not just any kind of card though. My favorite is making cards from scraps or discarded die cuts. I rarely plan out a card ahead of time. I just keep pulling things out of the scrap box to use, and when it ends up looking good to me, I add finishing touches and stop. Today the finishing touch was to ink the edges.
After working at the family business for 33 years I am recently retired and am blessed to be able to make more cards without rushing, tearing out a few hairs and then pitching the card anyway because I am not happy with it.
I am very thankful to all of you who have given me such nice comments on the cards I "uploaded anyway" when the rush was on.
I DO make cards that don't use scraps or discarded dies, but that's not my favorite way to create.

First, congratulations on retirement - isn't it grand?!!!
Secondly, I loved reading about your creative process - it's always so fun to hear how everyone approaches a card.
Last, but not lesst, I adore this card! The little bird perched in the big leaves, that wonderful rich, red dotted paper, and a wonderful layout. Into my faves!

This is such a terrific card...those die cut leaves look fantastic. I like the contrast of the red dot leaf with the tan stamped leaf. The sponged edges are the perfect touch.

Love that you get to spend more time with this passion after 33 years of other work, Carol. Also loving that dotted leaf and sentiment. Your sweer little birdie is the perfect accent for your non patterned leaf.

I don't think you should be reluctant to admit you love to make cards. I really like this one - I love that leaf die. And I love it when I can use some of my discards in another project. Great card!
