Today's WT challenge is to theme our cards to our favorite season.
Hands down, mine is spring when everything is fresh and new. I went a step further and depicted my favorite place to go in the spring.....Missouri Botanical Garden's Japanese Garden, Seiwa-en. It is glorious with blooming cherry trees, plum trees, azaleas, and peonies...all against that "new-growth green"....and reflected on the water of the lake. Tried to capture it in my watercolor.

Added note: I can see where the die cuts can be interpreted as "vines"......although I was trying to give the feeling of weeping willow branches that are on one side of the lake and frame one's view. Guess I wasn't too successful. : )

This is so beautiful, Sallie. I noticed it in the gallery right away. Pretty, soft watercolors. Looks like a place I would like to be. Peaceful and fresh!

When I first saw your card, I immediately thought of Monet's garden in France which I loved when I visited it. Then I read your description and realized it was a different garden - real similarities in the weeping willow branches and the curved bridge, and Monet loved things Japanese. You've depicted your local Japanese garden beautifully! Spring is my favourite season - I love watching my garden come back to life!

A gorgeous depiction, Sallie! Not only is your watercoloring outstanding, but how you have added the willows for framing, is the perfect finishing touch.
I can only hope the autumn colors at MOBOT are just as beautiful as your spring depiction. I've got a lot to be looking forward to!

I see the weeping willows, framing your gorgeous botanical garden scene - the water coloring is exquisite and I love how it all reflects in the water!
Thanks for the memory of the weeping willow that towered over our back yard when I was a child - been a while since I thought of that!!

Oh Sallie, this is just fabulous! The second I saw your card I thought of weeping willows. When we visit my husband's family in Wash. state, I always enjoy the trees. You are an amazing artist!

What a beautiful watercolour card with those soft colours on that beautiful sceneyou have created. The overall texture of the watercolour paper and those fabulous vines gives wonderful added interest.
