Step 1:Painted my paper with Gesso then dropped blue and green acrylic paints onto Gelli plate and smeared around with fingers to give finger painting effect and then covered with mixed media paper. Brayered for good coverage. Ended up with 8 backgrounds by adding more paints, etc. Let dry.
Step 2: added crackle paste to edges. let dry
Step 3: Sponged and direct to paper added Broken China Distress ink. let Dry
Step 4: Stenciled leaves with Embossing Paste, when dry outlined with gold gel pen
Step 5: die cut butterfly with piece of gelli plate background and gold foil CS. and hand drew butterfly trail and sentiment. Added gold washi tape around edge and mounted on chip board then attached to Whisper White Thick CS.
Because of the drying time and being busy my card took 2 days. Pretty normal for me..lol!
My card will be hidden until Oct to give to my DH for our 50th Anniversary...yep, 50! We will be hiking high up in the Great Basin National Park Mts and wishing we could soar like the eagles :-)
Enjoy...

Oh, Nancy, what an amazing mixed media beauty, and thanks for the description! I'd be lost without it! I can't get over the texture and the beautiful colors, and congratulations on your upcoming 50th anniversary! How precious, and Denny will love it!! Now wrap and hide it (and then remember where you stored it - haha!!). Beautiful, my friend! Hugs!

First of all, we know you have a lot of patience if you are soon to be celebrating 50 years of marriage.
Your patience is also reflected in all the steps and layers you went though to achieve this awesome card. It has so much texture that it looks like something you MUST run your fingers over for a delightful tactile experience. Such pretty colors, too.
Wow! This is so cool, Nancy. I like it a lot. The colors are lovely. What a wonderful milestone! 50 years. Thanks for playing along at MMCC #14. Melissa - DT
