I squeezed in making this card yesterday but didn't get a chance to upload before I had to scoot out of town to bring my DD to her college orientation (graduated Saturday, Open House Sunday, leave for orientation Monday night.....that's too much!) It's only 2 days and then she'll still be home for the summer but we're both exhausted after a long day of listening to speakers at the college. ANYWHO-back to the card. I knew I wanted to go masculine and nautical when I saw Sabrina's challenge to roll an edge as I had this ship log page stamped piece (overstamped with Weathered crackle) already on my desk. I tore the edges and did a faux burnt edge look using the brown inks and a sponge. I used then end of my paintbrush to add the roll and then sponged these to match the distressed look a bit more. I also rolled my circle piece as the back drop for the ship. The ship is sponged with Suede and popped as is the log page over the twine. For my sentiment I stamped "dad" in Versamark and embossed in the Espresso and then inked first with Versamark and then Not Quite Navy for the second sentiment and embossed in clear. My dp is also sponged in Suede before framing with a narrow piece of Espresso which I then distressed. This is on a Mossy Meadow base.
*This also uses Ali's sketch for this week's sketch challenge.
