WooHoo our cards are going to a real life author of Western novels, Gene Scott, the uncle of our much loved Teapotter, Gabby (gabalot). Gabby's uncle has terrible debilitating health issues as a result of diabetes. I hope all of our cards bring some smiles to Gene and his family and also to our Miss Gabby.
I had the huge pleasure of writing this weeks Teapotter tale. To learn more about Gene and Whykickamoocow click here
In reality Whykickamoocow if a famous race horse in New Zealand, I think his fame comes more from his funny name than his ability to win. After writing the story I googled Whykickamoocow and it appears that the name is a "generic" town name used by New Zealanders. It is the equivalent of Woop Woop here in Australia.
Here we have two sweethearts, Emmy Lou and Billy. I found Billy on a Pinterest free colouring page...sadly his origins are unknown. Emmy Lou on the other hand is a fully paid for Mo's Digital Pencil, digi stamp. She will probably wipe that smile off her face when she realises she is sitting on a barbed-wire fence. I know this from experience LOL.
Mum and dad used to take us camping each Easter and we would go searching for mushrooms. I would spot the mushies in a field and run like the clappers to catch them. I say "catch" like they had a choice in getting picked or running away, I digress. The particular day I am referring to was pretty chilly and I was wearing my new mohair jumper that my Nan knitted for me. It was pink and hairy and as an eight year old, I thought it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
I ran into paddock that had a gazillion mushrooms....I did not see the barbed wire fence......I was hurtled into the air and fortunately fell into the soft needles of a pine tree. Whew crisis averted....or so you would think....I happily carried on catching mushrooms when suddenly my back and tummy were feeling cold. I looked down and half of my new mohair jumper was missing. Turns out that one bit of wool got stuck on the barbed wire and the jumper was literally unravelling with every step I took.
Back to the card. The background is the basic smack and squirt technique (smack distress ink pad onto al foil, squirt on water and using a foam blending tool, scrub the inky water onto the cardstock, add a bit more colour without adding water) . Once dry, stamp on some trees and foliage. Emmy Lou and Billy were coloured with distress inks and some copics on their cheeks and hats. I toned them down by gently wiping my walnut stained sponge over them (as previously written, close your eyes when doing this) now fussy cut and position on card. Emmy Lou and Billy are only partially glued to the card, to keep a 3D look.
Thank you for looking and I hope you can make it to this weeks Teaparty.

I need to get some new words all because of you... fantastic, amazing, gorgeous, and awesome just aren't enough. This card is so creative and well made. You always achieve such a great 3d affect. Your colors are so pretty. I love the tough look on Emmy Lou... I think that if her jumper started to unravel that she would just continue on her way in her underwear. Billy, on the other hand, looks like the perfect gentleman. So cute.

Susie! Girl, you really know how to spin a tall tale!! I loved your story and giggled through the whole thing, imagining you telling it in your best Aussie accent!! "Whykickamoocow?" WHERE in heaven's name do you get your material - I am busting a gut over here laughing!!
Now the story of you running in the mushroom field - looks like you have recaptured the adventurous outing in the person of Emmy Lou, who looks like a fearless cowgirl. Billy has the look of a Precious moments boy, crooning on his guitar. Your scene with these little cowpokes, from the smack and squirt to the barbed wire fence is going to amuse Gene no end, and may very well be the inspiration for his next book!!
Super card, great scene and awesome storytelling, my sweet friend!
(now going to work on my card now that all my other responsibilities are taken care of!) Wish me luck!

Absolutely the CUTEST card, Susie! Love your coined smack and squirt inking, stamping and the adorable cow-kids that remind me of Uncle Gene and Aunt Nancy. As I mentioned to you, theirs is quite the love story. Your mushies and mohair story made me laugh so much it brought tears to my eyes. The barbed wire fence is great and Sabrina is right. Barbed wire was invented and patented in 1874, here in the town I live, by Mr. Joseph F. Glidden. His old historic homestead built in 1861 still stands. THANK YOU for writing such a wonderful challenge and for making this super card for my Uncle. He will no doubt love it! xx

WOW! Love the little cowgirl and cowboy and the way you positioned them in this awesome scene! What a fantastic job you did coloring them and love that even her tiny skirt looks like it is trimmed in bandana! You achieve some of the most fantastic effects, Susie! Love the background once again and the glow of the sunset on the wide open space!
