Ok, I FINALLY got a chance to play with some of the mixed media techniques that Loll and others in blogland have been showcasing. Loll (of Stamping with Loll) is hosting a "12 Tags of Christmas" event and I was definitely channeling my inner "Loll" on this one. I've learned a lot from watching her experiment with mixed media in her cards and tags. I also was inspired by the techniques in this video from Jill Foster:
I squeezed distress paint (green and a little yellow) onto my craft mat, spritzed it a bit with water and spread it around, and swiped the tag through. Then I added some white acrylic paint (same method). Die cut the flower and did the same in Fired Brick paint. Then blended along the edges of the flower with distress ink also in fired brick and while it was still wet, sprinkled on kaleidoscope embossing powder for a great sparkle and more texture. Same process for the leaves. Stamped the text in golden glitz pigment on the tag, popped up the flower w/ dimensional tape (bent the petals a little for dimension) and added the stamen in gold foil. Used Loll's technique for scrunching wet seam binding for the ribbon and also added gold cord. Lots of fun and I'm happy with the result.
