The Clean & Simple Challenge CAS265 (3/24/14) was "Color Blocking with a twist". The twist was to add a die cut or punch shape to the color blocking.
Color blocking is not something I've done before, so my attempt was rather timid - I opted to go subtle with my color choices and kept to tones of blue. I swiped the back of the stamp with three Memento mini pads - Summer Sky, Teal Zeal and Nautical Blue. They looked kind of dorky together after I applied the ink to the stamp so I gave it a spritz of water and allowed the inks to run together to soften the effect. The background used here is the first generation stamping; I was able to get 2 more images before I ran out of ink. I love making left-overs for some future project!
I opted to use a stamped silhouette image on the color blocked background and have the die cut be off to the side. The tiny rhinestones were added to give a bit of sparkle to an otherwise somber card.
It was so nice of you to stop by and look at my Birds in the Thicket card. Thank you!

Your card is beautiful in its simplicity! Love the silhouetted image against those pretty blues, and the watercolor effect is perfect. Favorited and saved for future CASEing.

I love this and have put it in My Favorites. Another wonderful what I would call 'twist' is the offset frame which in itself is asymmetrical. I wouldn't hesitate at all to hang this on my wall. TFS
