Ever have a color combo just capture you? This week's combo is one of those for me; I got the colors out on Monday night and they haven't gone away since! I had worked on this bg piece the other day by starting a faux barnboard look with the direct to paper technique. It was just a bit harsh so I liberally spritzed it with water and let the colors bleed together more. When I saw today's mixed media challenge was to add some squiggles, I took my Not Quite Navy marker to add some definition to the piece again. My vertical strip was stamped then had some direct to paper ink added along with some River Rock marker highlights and sponged edges. My image panel started with my attempt at faux linen which I had admired on another of Queen Jeanne's cards though I chose the layout of this beautyfor my CASE. I see now that she used glossy cs which I'm sure makes a big difference in the sanding and the linen look! Oh, well-I'll save the idea for another day! I then stamped my leaves in River Rock (I wiped the ink of the right, center leaves to have a gap for my flower). I stamped my flower onto Baja cs using the rock 'n roll technique with the two blues. I stamped the center in NQN then added white gel pen & NQN highlights. I curled the petals a bit along the side of my piercing tool. I also added some River Rock marker highlights on my leaves. I broke out my colored pencils to add some shading around the leaves and behind the flower and then went along the ticket punched edges of all the panels. I blended these in with my blender pen. For my sentiment-I punched my 3 pieces then masked the centers with a 1/2" circle punched post it note then sponged with NQN. I took the broad end of my NQN marker and wrote my letters. I then went back with a white gel pen and River Rock marker to add highlights. I then used my NQN marker to mimic the wood grain I added to the back panel. The sentiment and image panel are popped on dimensionals and I added the cheater's bow ribbon accents.
*I added some close ups and step by step photos on my blog
