For Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Silke Ledlow challenged us to make a predominantly pink card. The Bring Back Beautiful challenge was flowers. Great, as I hadn't made my mom's card yet. My mom's name is Rosa Marie. She was born in Germany 85 years ago next week. Because of the financial and political turmoil there in the late 1920's my grandfather decided to emigrate to the US when she was 2. She didn't always lead an easy life. I think that the most important thing that she taught me was to make the best of a bad situation and just do the best that you can. It will get better if you do...
Had to go with the rose theme (they are her favorite flower!) Colored with Copics, cut with a nestie and sponged with the stencil. Embossed the pink pirouette with 2 different folders (I knew that I would be covering the middle so I didn't worry about perfect lines). Cut two triangles of BG Bittersweet in a layout that was designed to further focus upon the focal point. Added the rolled roses that Pat posted an inspired tutorial for: ~Helen's Nursery~ by Blooms in a Box at Splitcoaststampers and added Prima gem centers, some pearls, the lace from flourishes and done. I hope that all moms, stepmoms, grandmoms, mothers of furry children and anyone who has mentored a child have a wonderful mother's day...and that everyone has a peaceful day.

Loving those rolled roses and gorgeous shabby feel to this card! Your mom sounds like a wonderful lady and I love how she modeled making the best of the situation you are in - a fabulous thing to live by! Hugest of congrats to her on her 85th birthday coming up!! I'm sure she will treasure this card.
