I've been such a good girl this week focusing on the scrapbooking I need to accomplish for my son's May 19th high school graduation (I'm on 5th grade!) but when I saw the Ways to Use It Challenge to make a monochromatic card, I couldn't resist. My DD is graduating from college on the same date, so I did need a card for her too! I got an awesome box of b/w "scraps" from the Pay it Forward thread S/O Pay It Forward by Scrapjanny at Splitcoaststampers thanks to Louise! My DD loves b/w and grey so I went ahead and made a card. I went with a 5 1/4" square so I could use a large piece of the flocked paper Louise had sent me. I used the Tasteful Trims die to edge this with a white scallop. I used Basic Grey, Basic Grey patterned dp and shimmery dark grey from the paper scraps to punch scallop circles then used my paper snips to cut between the scallops to form petals which I curled over the edge of my piercing tool. I had these cool shiny vintage buttons from a thrift store find and popped them in the centers after punching a hole with my cropadile. I popped around the button center with dimensionals. I embossed the sentiment using my Versamarker to ink up the stamp and omit the butterfly and used black ep. I added a gingham bow. I punched a newspaper flower with a paper button center and Baker's twine accent and
a scallop edge in Basic Grey with a piece of gingham for the inside lower edge of the card.
It is so exciting to see my older kids reaching these milestones and fun to be making keepsakes for them as we celebrate their accomplishments!

How very striking. I love black & white together and hardly every make any cards in those colors. I will have to do that someday. Very nice.

Fabulous card for the Ways to Use It challenge! Also, a wonderful one for your DD's graduation since she really likes this color combo. And you were able to use some of the scraps you received. I think you hit a homerun! It's a beautiful card. I enjoyed seeing it today. Nicely done. TFS
