As in Work In Progress - and not a Q in sight, I am afraid. I had what I thought was a brilliant idea this morning, and took one of my paper engineering books into work to plan the card. But it's taken me all afternoon and this is the third version. However, I love the idea of a radio where you can tune in different sentiments, and have stuck a couple of post-it notes in my book reminding me of the pitfalls to avoid next time I try this mechanism. As this is going to a guy, I am sure Charles will understand all about prototypes and won't mind that this is just Radio WIP .
A2 base.
The frame of the radio is faux wood cut with Labels 8 and then embossed with a couple of layers of UTEE, and some brads added down one side.
The next layer is kraft card embossed with SU Square Lattice. I added a mega oval cut from dry wall tape to look a bit like the speaker part of the radio, and cut a slot out near the bottom. The sentiments were stamped on white card and layered behind the slot and the pulley mechanism. I used Banner Basics 2 to create my little red pointer, and LOTS of foam tape to assemble the whole thing and still have all the insides working freely. The little red tab now runs freely along the whole slot, so you can "tune in" to any of the sentiments.
In my book (The Elements of Pop Up, Carter & Diaz) this mechanism is described as a pull-tab with a pulley. Unfortunately it's not one of the mechanisms you can totally de-construct, hence the whole afternoon spent on working it out. I'm thinking something like this could make a good anniversary card for DH .

Yes, it will! Won't your hubby so impressed with you if you can pull it off! Its a genius idear Sabrina....before long you will have it perfected and you will be holding SCS tutorials! This rocks...I know Charles will be touched and impressed! It is very much so a creative little radio card! You are a smart one to document your notes to self.........rather than leaving it to your memory! ha! I know all about that!

What a great idea, Sabrina. I love your idea for a radio. I like how the paper looks like burlap and then you have the look of the speaker screen over that. Brilliant.

What a great radio - sorry it was more of a challenge to work out the dial but you have such a clever result.
I really like the look of the speaker. Yup, it does bring back memories - and mine go back a LONG way!

What a fabulous interactive card, Sabrina. Love your radio idea of "dialing in" various sentiments. Great execution. I can well imagine that it took a great deal of time to create this winner for Charles. He is sure to smile AND flip!

Wow - did the best job on this! I love everything about it - so impressive. Really, I am totally impressed. I'm with Kathy - this reminds me of my younger days visiting my Grandparents. Super cool!
