Wow. I've had Crab & Co. since it was released, and don't think I've ever used it. That's somewhat surprising, because I really like the set. But then again, I wasn't regularly making anything other than Christmas and Sympathy cards until this year.
This is a birthday card for a good friend and fellow Cancer. His birthday is just a week before mine. I just had to use the crab! Finally!
I stamped the crab on Real Red and cut it out (that was not easy). I applied Glossy Accents to him (which is part of what made this so hard to photograph).
I know this layout has been done many times before. I can't even point to a specific card that I case'd. But I hope I added my own spin. The sand is kraft with splatter background stamps, and then covered with iridescent chalk. Each shell and the little starfish are also coated in the iridescent chalk, which didn't photograph well but you can see it a bit in the shell on the left.
The water is brayered with Cool Caribbean, Blue Bayou, and Not Quite Navy. I'm too impatient to let it dry properly, and accidentally splattered some of the chalk enhancer on it, but I think that gives it a bit more depth.
There is no white cardstock on this - all of it is vanilla. I don't know if that meets the spirit of the challenge, but I'm going with it. The distressing on the sentiment was a complete accident because I was handling the brayered piece before it was dry, but again, I like it.
