I made this pink Christmas card for today's FS challenge and also for the Hope You Can Cling To challenge, Flower Power (HYCCT0. Congrats to Jenn and I chose her Gerbera Daisy to case. I kept the flower as focal point and horizontal layout, but added stamped/die cut images and some extra layers w/ dp.
I'm so touched by this partnership w/ MD Anderson as it is a place w/ great meaning to me. My daughter (and only child) was diagnosed w/ Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2008 and after chemo, she went to MD Anderson and was treated by Dr Cox and his team w/ their Proton Radiation Therapy. Thanks to this type of radiation, she did not suffer the collateral damage to nearby organs she would have w/ conventional radiation. I will be eternally grateful to them for this. BTW, she's doing great now and just had her second clean scan in a row!!
I stamped two of the poinsettias, colored them with markers and a water brush and used the new ODBD matching Poinsettia die to cut them out. I layered one flower on top of the other and cut a few of the petals in order to pop them up a little. On the pink background, I stamped a large filigree snowflake w/ pink pigment ink , then embossed it with a CB folder.
The sentiment is part of a larger one that I colored the part I wanted w/ a marker and stamped it. It's cut with a Quickutz oval die. I cut a flourish piece out of the dp, attached it to white c/s, then hand cut around it. I cut the striped dp layer piece on the diagonal so I wouldn't have the stripes all running up and down or sideways. A little glitter was added in the flower center and it's all attached to a 5.5 x 4.25 (A2) white card.
Thanks so much for looking! My blog:The Write Stuff. Sorry! I had to delete a bunch of really old posts from my blog & this is one of them.
