The ODBD Stamping in Time challenge this fortnight is Christmas in July. At first I thought I'd have to pass, because I don't have any of the ODBD Christmas stamps to use as my focal stamp.
BUT, I spent a bit of time thinking, and reckoned I could adapt this lovely bird from You Will Find Refuge and create a winter scene - although it was impossible to match Kelley's drawing skills when I was trying to extend the branch into a tree!!
5 3/4" square base. Silver frame around the edge, drawn with pencil and then silver Stickles.
I stamped the bird image onto watercolour card after masking off the part with autumn berries, and then drew on a sort of blasted tree trunk. Masked the bird and tree, and stamped and embossed snowflakes (silver ink, silver EP) and grass (Bronze ink, clear EP). Removed the masks, brushed the background with water and then coloured with H2Os. Coloured the bird and tree, sponged the edges and layered up onto a deep aubergine piece of card. Sentiment is from See-D's, stamped on a scrap of Basic Gray, hand cut and distressed a lot. I attached it with a glitter snowflake diecut and a copper snowflake brad. Non-traditional, but I am happy with how it turned out.
