Had lots of fun smooshing flowers through my cuttlebug today. What a fun technique challenge this was today!!
Things I learned while playing:
~ some flowers are MUCH better choices for this technique than others. In fact, some don't seem to work well for this technique at all!!
~ a myriad of teensy weensy bugs hang out on the flowers in my yard. They squish too.
~ the colour that results from squishing the dickens out of a flower may not resemble the original colour of said flower in any way.
In today's "experiments", I had the best success with pansies, verbena and lobelia. I think I spent more time squishing flowers than making cards but I did manage to make quite a few impressions I like including this "pounded lobelia" impression. If I were to do another lobelia impression, I would snip off any of the teeny buds as they leave a bit of a splotch as seen on my image.
I think my poor little flowers are now trembling each time I step outside, so I shall give them time to forget what happened to "the ones that went inside the house".
Matted the image with black. Stamped the retired bg image "Script" in Versamark and embossed with clear ep. I usually shy away from the purplish cardstock tones but this one seemed to match. Not even sure which colour it is 'cause it was hanging around loose in a pile of mismatched SU cardstock.
Thanks for dropping by my gallery.

Your flower and your card turned out so pretty. Then you enhanced it by taking an artistic photo. I learned a lot from this challenge too. It will go down as one of my favorites.

I had to smoosh a lot of flowers too and you listed pretty much the same things I learned! But what fun! Your card is gorgeous. I love the embossed bg image and that the image does not cover it up. Glad you went w/ a purple shade - works beautifully. Love this, Quiltzi!

This is absolutely gorgeous! The lobelia made the perfect image... it reminds me of a Lalique figurine. Incredibly beautiful, especially photographed amongst your flowers.

What a cool technique! must go back and read about that one. It resembles watercolouring... I wonder what flowers could be sacrificed from my beds? Anyway, very pretty result.

Are you being CRUEL to nature again Diz!! Haven't you already been arrested for that before? I see why your flowers shake every time you come out the door. However, I will say you made an incredible flower with this technique. I'm too intimidated by techniques, so I run away from them. Looks like those flowers should have run away from you too, but guess they are not as smart as The Fruitflake! LOL!! I LOVE that b/g, and the white, purple and black really pop. Great color combo. Such a clean and crisp card. Too bad that poor lil' flower had to give up its life for the sake of a card!! Great job flower killer!! LOL!! TFS!!

Heather, this looks like a stamp, not a real flower image! Good job smashing that specimen. I laughed when you wrote, "so I shall give them time to forget what happened to "the ones that went inside the house".
Very funny! My kids said, "What's so funny?" They wouldn't understand.

Heather, you are too funny! I simply love the card; it's beautiful...but I so loved your story! So now flowers fear you!! Ha-ha! Anyway, I thought of trying this but chickened out. Having read your description, I just may pull off a petal or two of our Mexico petunia. They die off each night anyway. Thanks for sharing your beautiful card and the fun story!
