The inspiration challenge today is to create a card inspired by our state. I now live in Michigan but grew up in Kansas where much of my family still live. You canÂ’t think of Kansas without windmills and sunflowers and that tall maple tree I used to climb so I tried to work it all into the card.
-The sunflower is colored with Prismacolor pencils, baby oil and paper stumps.
-The tree and windmill are on one image which I stamped once to the right side and once to the left in order to stretch the scene, then added a second tree. The fence is stamped two to three times and the wire was extended where needed with a black Marvy find tip marker. The post are colored in with Stampin Up Goring Grey marker.
-A ½” circle was punched from a post it note for the sun mask.
-The ground mask was formed by tracing the stamped image on paper and cutting the line. Tearing just doesnÂ’t work for this landscape line so I stamped grasses to help disguise the perfectly straight cut.
-The sky was created with a brayer and I start my roll off the paper and repeat as many times as needed to get the color desired. As in this case when I know a panel is going over the top IÂ’ll work in sections to avoid lines.
-The grass was sponged on and then grass images were stamped in green.
-The Top Note die was cut on the long side for the orange, on the short side for the brown and then lined this piece up to the long side to make a second cut so they fit snuggly together.
-The brown border for the image panel is cut 1/16” wide and glued to the card to reduce bulk.
-The oval panel is mounted on foam tape.
Tools: Nestabilites, cutting scissors, Stampin Up Top Note die, brayer, sponge, post it note, scrap paper, stamp positioner, paper stumps

Your card is beautiful, Roxie. Yes, sunflowers and Kansas go together. I can think of driving across Kansas on I-70 and when you see a clump of trees you know there is a house.

This is so beautiful! My DDIL is from Kansas, and I would love to do a Kansas-themed card for her. Thanks for the inspiration.
