Good Monday everyone! I sure hope you are having a better stamping day than I am!
Today's Try a new Technique was an easy one... make a speckled paper by brayering on some color, then spritzing with Simple Green. Simple enough... and I didn't really have any trouble doing that. Why I didn't just use that as my bg and go from there, I don't know! I decided I wanted to try another new technique for me... to make a shaker card. I had purchased this cute little Studio G $1.00 stamp at M's and wanted to try to make it a shaker. Well... long story short... I thought I could figure this out without looking up the tutorial because I was in a hurry.... yeah, right!!! I actually did figure it out but only after ruining the first try by forgetting to put my image in before I closed it up... so I had a shaker, but no scene. Then I tried to put the scene behind it, but the snow covered too much of the snowman up... he was buried in snow up to his head!
So... I finally got that done.. and the image is stamped on the bordering blue paper I had made for today's technique. I punched out some snowflakes out of the same paper, and decided on mounting all this on a white panel which I ran through the bug. Well.... I don't have a cutting system other than my nesties, and I only have one size of them, so after trying to make a template and cut with my Fiskars finger blade, I decided to use my nestie and figure out the size from there, because I knew my nestie was bigger than my image. So... I cut a silver "ring" to take up the gap. OK... not too bad yet. Cut out my silver base and laid it on the card but it looked like it was in outter space among the stars and snowflakes, so I cut the red panel to ground it, and stamped the sentiment. But... not being Sparklegirl... I don't do plain space well at all, and it looked plain! So.... I added silver greenery and "berries"... still doesn't look right but I'm at that point that any more on this card and it won't stand up! My ribbon is too small but what a perfect color match... and I didn't have any wider ribbon that looked right. So... there you have it.
If that wasn't bad enough... my first upload with a much better explanation disappeared into outer space along with my snowglobe the first time!
Hope you have a better day than I have, and if you've read this far you get extra points! You might even get added to THIS elve's NICE list!!! Thanks for looking!

You had me in stitches the entire time reading your description. I'm so sorry it took so many tries to get it turn out right. But the end result is too cute! Love those red gems.

Grace, your rendition of your morning had me laughing til I cried!! I could feel your 'pain'...LOL! Mine had a similar start when trying to use Kaboom (which was a total disaster!!). Instead of a fine spray, it came out and literally drowned my paper. So my next step was to bring out the Greased Lightning. That went a little better but still not sure I have the result that Lynn was looking for. Anyway...your card truly is a great one in spite of its history! Tomorrow will be better. :-)

I'll go on your nice list . I read all the way to the end, and I lost 3 descriptions and uploads today so you have all my sympathy. It looks like a great shaker card, and I love the frosty blues.
