I made this for WT181, Sharpen Up.
We were to use our pencils, if possible in some creative new way. It must be heading for 35 years ago since a cousin of mine made a little peacock like this using pencil shavings, and I've never got round to trying it before.
The tail is shavings from 3 pencils, glued together. I cut the body out of card and coloured it with watercolour pencils. The plumes from the head are metallic embroidery cotton tied in a knot under the head and fanned out. I drew the feet after sticking him onto a piece of marbled silver paper. As he's small, I've just made an ATC - I covered a blank in blue marbled paper and added my peacock. Turquoise Stickles round the edges of both papers, teardrop gems on the silver paper and punched layered circles from holographic card and green and black gems finished it off.

Hands-down, this is the most creative way I have seen to use colored pencils! Now I wish I had not thrown away my pencil shavings, since there is a use for them! Whodathunk?
