sketch challenge luv, Korin...just what I needed today as I *HAD* to have get a very last day of high school encouragement card on &D's plate (before the breakfast burrito he inhaled). Funny, but seniors who are walking tomorrow night still have finals the day before???? I mean they already must have the diplomas lettered with the students names despite how well they do on the tests today, right?????
I've used this Hampton Art Stamp before with our son Sam...journal words to live by and it's been on my mind to make Andy a special card. Todays sketch challenge was perfect!
I used a vintage playing card for the Jack of Diamonds, Making Memories *&* rub-on, a metal *D* brad. Various Spellbinder dies for the shapes and an upcycled *bricked* acetate layer.
Andy loves European graffiti art, so I wanted to include a brick wall. We have lively debates about what is art and the deFACING of someone else's property. He has introduced me to some of the better known graffiti artists and I have to say they are quite talented, not only in the actual art, but in the expression of what they 'believe in'. Not that I agree with everything, but as an artist, I recognize the merits of the work.
I adore the positive quotes that make up the journal stamp...so much good positive input. To size the image for the sketch, I had to cut off an Arthur Ashe quote:
"From what we get we make a living, from what we
give we make a LIFE."
It is my {HEarts} desire that &D's life nourishes a garden of dreams unto harvest! Thank you for leaving your words of wisdom and the gift of your time.

Fabulous and true messages about life in your sentiment panel, Susan. Terrific card for your son....and an artistic creation that you are known for, Susan.
Your card pretty much sums up "Life. Very enlightening.

Susan, this is fabulous. Love your use of the playing card. I agree with you that some of the graffiti artists are quite talented. I just think they should have permission before they use some of their canvases!

Ya know, I started reading that card and knew immediately it was yours before I even saw your name. You always, always make such fantastic works of inspirational art. Your son will love it...and his mom for thinking of him!

Great image and great card. I sure do love the phrase "lively debates". That explains it really well. I really like ALL the sayings on the image. I may steal some.
