I wanted to create something that would help me remember the spirit of Thanksgiving all throughout the month.
This "calendar" came together pretty quickly. The "pockets" were basically just two punched out circles with a notch cut in the front of one of them, all glued together around the edges with a very thin line of glue. For the calendar base, I just covered a large piece of corrugated cardboard with various DPs. Very easy (and, I think, pretty cool). Then I colored some of the FABULOUS images from Kim Hughes' Thanksgiving set, printed off some numbers and the "Thanksgiving" heading on my home computer, and got to work decorating the calendar.
What do you do with it, though? Well, this calendar is sort of a "reverse advent calendar." Instead of filling it with presents or fun images for each day leading up to Thanksgiving, for this advent calendar, I'm going to be filling it each day with one thing I'm feeling thankful for. And, so that I can reflect back on my gratitude from year to year, I made labeled pockets on the back to keep my previous years slips handy.
