Thank you Melody for hosting today! This indeed was fun to do; use spices or some other thing from our kitchen cupboard!
My DH saw me bring the vanilla and cinnamon into my craft room today. So then he went and brought me the vacuum. He said I might need it for a card. See, he's seen me use my iron (faux batik), sewing machine, and now SPICES from the kitchen to make cards. He figured I would need the vacuum next, and that would make me a fine card making housewife! Our floors would still be dirty, clothes would not be ironed, or mended, and food would not be prepared, but oh, what a card maker I would be! LOL
I think he's wondering, what's next?!!
Oh well, he grins and loves me anyway!! Bless his heart!
OK, so for this card, I TOTALLY CASE'd a fine card by Ying and you must go see it here: http://yingandrubberstamping.blogspot.com/
I only tweaked a bit, but its basically the same same. She is so awesome! Thanks for the inspiration, Ying!
I poured Vanilla on the piece of cardstock I was going to use for the treasure map to distress it a bit. I like the stains it left, but you can barely see them. It sure made my craft room smell nice, but I think using a brown distress ink is a much better way to go. Not to mention the hours it took for the page to dry!
After it was dry, I stamped the map on it twice and colored it in a bit with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. I then punched four holes and threaded the gingham ribbon through all four places, and tied it around the cinnamon sticks. I think its kinda cool! Sort of like a scroll you could roll up!
The main image is colored with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol and then highlighted a bit with Twinkling H20's to deepen the shades. Ying did hers in such soft colors, and I'm so not used to that. I usually go for bolder shades and its hard for me to stick to softer tones. This was so fun though, as I had all my thinking done for me, as it was a direct CASE of her card! I just kept it up on the screen the whole time and kept referring to it!

Your Dh has a sense of humor! He must be related to mine (who doesn't mind dust, or searching in the fridge for himself!). Love your caase of the card...we are all allowed to do that...especially when we get such wonderful results! TFS this card with those of us who didn't see it!!!
