To make the large black/white piece I used a polymer clay technique called Mokume Gane. You make layers and layers of different colors (or just black and white, as I did here) super thin layers.
then press a stamp into the layered clay, press hard
then use a clay knife to shave off the relief of the image
you are left with this, the image in a bunch of variation of color, but it's smooth. Super fun.
If you are all clever *I'm not* you can do cute stuff with the shaved scraps, like decorate a pen or make jewerly.
You gotta bake it too.

the person who receives/received this card must be very special - since i'm sure it took alotta' time and love! it looks very cool - i first thought it was embossed metal just catching a good deal of light in the photo!
