This card was made yesterday for Kristina's color challenge posted on her blog (www.kwernerdesign.com).
The design started off shaky at first. I wasn't happy with what I was coming up with, but after I kept plugging away at it, the ideas started to come and it got better.
I stamped the bird in Basic Grey on watercolor paper and used ink to color him. I added a bit of gold cord on its hat and Crystal Effects on its belly. I also frayed a yellow grosgrain ribbon and created a feathery tail.
The bird image was mounted on a mini card (the ones I received when I bought the Three for You punch box last fall). The card was 3x3, which was a little overwhelming on my card, so I cut it down to 2½x2½. I also created a manilla envelope type of closure. The Pun Fun set hadn't been translated, so I made up my own French sentiment inside ("A little bird told me it's your birthday").
The card background is stamped with linen, to mimick the bedding. The saffron cardstock is stamped in Pumpkin Pie with one of the frames from Frames with a Flourish. I then added stacked ribbons, a ribbon tab on the side, brads, and glued gold cord at the bottom of the card to mimick pillow trimming.
