When I saw the IC124 challenge yesterday, I immediately thought of my mom, who passed away almost 2 years ago. She made beautiful quilts for all her children and grandchildren. I have regretted not asking her to teach me, but have resigned myself to the fact that, even though I aquired her craftiness, I have talents in different areas. Today, while sitting in church, I thought, "Why couldn't I make a quilt card that looks like my mom's quilts?" (Don't tell me that your mind doesn't wander in church!) Here is my creation from her log cabin pattern. I used the 6x6 Basic Grey Two Scoops paper pad and mounted it on Bayou Blue. Each stip is 3/4 of an inch wide and 3/4 of an inch longer than the one before it. If I do it over, I will change the one strip of plaid because it doesn't fit in as well with the pinks.
This is my first card to upload. I have hesitated uploading any cards because I am afraid of "0 comments" so please encourage me! I am doing it in honor of my wonderful mom!

Great job, this might be your first, but it won't be your last. Inspiration comes from the funniest places. Thanks for the instructions, I've been wanting to try this technique. Keep creating & enjoying. Peggy

Lovely and inspiring! I'm a new quilter; you should take some classes - it's sooooo fun! Sorry about your mom; you must miss her a lot! P.S. I've been known to make a grocery list in my head during a boring sermon :-)

My mother is also a quilter, and while I love the log cabin one she made for me, it's just not my thing to do. She loves my cards and scrapbooks, but that's not her thing. She gave me a love of all that is handmade, and that is what's important. Your card is beautiful! Hope you don't mind if I case it!

I love this! I love crafts too. My mom can sew so well, but I can barely attach a button. This is great way to tribute your mother! You should upload your cards! I have a few that don't have comments. I bet your cards are just as beautiful as this is!

This is soooo pretty! I am a quilter too... tho haven't done much lately... but I love them, and this log cabin is just wonderful! Love the colors, and love that it was inspired by your Mother. She would be honored that you did this in her memory! Welcome to SCS. I know I had the same fears before I started and now I'm so addicted to the challenges that there are days I wonder if we'll have anything to eat for dinner! Be forewarned... they are addictive! So glad you joined us! Hope we see more of your gorgeous creations!
